In Kind Canada Turns
"Gifts-In-Kind" Into "Gifts-In-Action"
John
Page, Co-founder of In Kind Canada, a Public
Foundation with full charitable status, realized that disposing of
corporate, surplus material was a serious environmental problem. Hoping
to help solve this environmental issue and yearning to utilize his
philanthropic nature he co-founded In Kind Canada in 1993.
Through In Kind Canada corporations
can dispose of surplus material in an efficient and cost effective
manner. Companies do not incur any transportation, storage or landfill
costs, and they may qualify for a charitable tax receipt!
Once fair market value has been established
In Kind Canada matches the new or used surplus goods with the needs
of Canadian charities. Surplus goods move directly to the charity
in need, while companies reduce storage and administrative costs.
This is an innovative Canadian program that is revolutionizing the
relationship between business and charities. Charities win, corporations
win, and the environment wins.
The Internet has been a vital link
in the development of the In Kind Canada program. Not only can Charities
join online, they are also able to view in depth information about
additional benefits such as discounts with VIA Rail, AVIS, Bell Mobility,
Corporate Express and Thrifty, and access to group health, director liability, home and automobile
insurance.
Corporations are able to begin the
process of donating their surplus goods on line.
